The newly redesigned Nassau cruise port features a waterfront village, cultural marketplace, and improved pedestrian access to downtown, transforming the cruise guest experience.

Nassau, Bahamas has completed its ambitious $300 million cruise port redevelopment project, creating a stunning new waterfront destination that aims to redefine the cruise port experience. The transformed port, now called Nassau Harbour Village, officially opened this month to wide acclaim from the first guests to visit.

The centerpiece of the redevelopment is a vibrant waterfront promenade stretching over half a mile along the harbour, lined with locally owned shops, restaurants, and cultural venues. Unlike the previous port area, which funneled guests through a nondescript parking lot, the new design creates an immediate sense of place with Bahamian architecture, tropical landscaping, and public art installations by local artists.

A new cultural marketplace showcases Bahamian artisans, musicians, and chefs, providing an authentic taste of island life within steps of the cruise berths. The Junkanoo Experience, a permanent interactive exhibit, allows visitors to learn about the islands' most famous cultural celebration through costumes, music, and dance demonstrations.

The port can now accommodate up to six cruise ships simultaneously, with two new mega-ship berths capable of handling vessels over 200,000 gross tons. Improved traffic flow separates pedestrians from vehicle traffic, and a new fleet of electric shuttles provides complimentary transportation between the port, downtown Bay Street, and the popular Atlantis resort on Paradise Island.
