What Disney is like.
Disney Cruise Line runs the most polished family product at sea. The ships are spotless, the crew is relentlessly kind, the stage shows are Broadway quality, and there are fireworks over the ocean on Pirate Night. It is also the only mainstream line without a casino, which tells you who the ship is designed around.
The fleet has grown fast. The Triton class (Disney Wish, Treasure, Destiny) added the AquaMouse water coaster, Star Wars and Marvel spaces, and the Frozen and Worlds of Marvel dinner shows. Disney Fantasy and Dream run the seven-night Caribbean classics with the AquaDuck coaster; Disney Magic and Wonder do shorter Bahamas trips, Alaska and Europe. Disney Adventure, the largest ship, sails from Singapore.
Rotational dining is the signature: you eat in a different themed restaurant each night (Animator's Palate, Royal Court, Worlds of Marvel by ship) and your same serving team moves with you, learning the kids' names and the one who only eats chicken. Adults have Palo, Remy and Enchante for a grown-up dinner while the kids are in the club.
Disney is the most expensive of the family lines, and often worth it for kids under 10. Because so much is included (soda, kids clubs, shows, rotational dining), the gap to a Royal fare plus packages is smaller than the sticker suggests. We book on opening day, grab Castaway Cay cabanas and adult dinner reservations the minute windows open, and pair the sailing with a Walt Disney World stay when you want the full week.

Most have Disney's "magical porthole" with a live sea view and animated characters.
Families that will barely be in the room.
Real porthole or window; split bathrooms (sink+toilet, sink+tub) in most cabins are a family lifesaver.

Balcony with two chairs; some "navigator's verandahs" are enclosed and cheaper.

Why is Disney Cruise Line more expensive?
More is included (soda, kids clubs, shows, rotational dining) and demand is high. Compared like for like with a Royal Caribbean fare plus packages, the gap is smaller than the sticker price suggests.
Is there anything for adults?
Plenty: an adults-only pool and beach, Palo and Remy restaurants, a nightlife district and quiet lounges. Many couples sail Disney without kids.
When should we book?
As soon as sailings open, usually 15 to 18 months ahead. Cabanas, nursery slots and adult dining book out fast. We watch the calendar for you.
How much does a Disney cruise cost for a family of four?
A four-night Bahamas cruise typically runs $5,000 to $8,000 for a family of four in an oceanview; a seven-night Caribbean cruise $9,000 to $15,000. Gratuities and excursions are on top.
Do the ships have casinos?
No. Disney is the only major line without one, which is part of why the adult spaces feel different.
Disney cruise or Walt Disney World?
Different trips. The cruise is calmer and more inclusive; the parks are bigger and more exhausting. Many families do a three- or four-night cruise after a few park days. We plan both.
