Overview
Why Sitka.
Sitka faces the open Pacific on the outer coast of Southeast Alaska, which means king and silver salmon pass right by on their way to rivers elsewhere. Add halibut, lingcod and rockfish on the same grounds and you get the classic all-inclusive lodge trip.
Lodges here do the whole thing: boat, guide, gear, meals, a bed and fish processing. You step off the dock in the morning and eat dinner overlooking the water.

Getting there

When is the best time for kings?
May through early July. Silvers pick up in July and run through September; halibut is good all season.
How rough is the ocean?
You are on the outer coast, so some days are lumpy. Lodges fish protected water when the Gulf is up.
